i worked on the fashion desk of cosmopolitan and Marie Claire for 7 years.  my dream now is to shoot editorial fashion.

In the fashion industry most photographers, art directors, stylists, models, hair stylists and make-up artists start off by doing test shoots to build their portfolios. They work closely as a team with one common aim: to get great images.  Usually stylists and photographers will speak to model agencies about shooting new faces as newby models need Experience and pictures to build their portfolio.  There is no model agency in Northampton, so I am scouting my own new faces.  Lucky you!

I will be holding castings, which is when unsigned, aspiring models come to the studio to have some head shots done and have a chat.  This is totally informal and only takes 10/15minutes.  You must be fresh faced as I need to see you as a blank canvas (A little mascara is ok).  My studio is in a garage which will be fully opened to promote air flow and be covid secure.

Initially I am looking for girls that are 15-24, min 5'6 and size 8-10.  Once I am more experienced and established and have access to a wardrobe beyond my own, I will be looking for both male and female models of all shapes and sizes and all ages.  Under 18s will need parental permission and parents/guardians are welcome to come along to castings.  They are also welcome to attend on shoot days, but these will be run at industry level professionalism with everybody 110% on the job.  Successful applicants will need to sign model release forms.  These are used as  an industry standard, giving the photographer/magazine legal permission to publish images.

It feels like a lot to take in, but I want to empower, not disappoint you.  I have come across many bogus photographers in my fashion career.  They take advantage of aspiring models by pretending they can get them modeling contracts if they pay for pictures first.  It is a scam!  Only a model agent can decide to sign you and there will never be an upfront cost.  There is more info on keeping yourself safe on the website of the British Fashion Model Agents Association https://bfma.fashion/

Nobody pays or gets paid to test.  Everyone is there to invest in themselves, their portfolio and career.  I will give you some prints for your folio and web sized digital copies for online use.

If you are interested, the first step is to complete the form below, which will act as your casting card.  You also need to send 3 snaps of yourself, two close ups (one straight on, one 3/4 view) and a full length shot in a simple outfit like jeans/leggings and a Tshirt.  You need to be bare faced against a neutral background somewhere with plenty of day light.  I'm looking for a relaxed passport picture style, nothing posed.  It's best to get someone to take the images for you.  please send pics to fleur.debruyne@yahoo.co.uk

Good luck and really looking forward to hearing from you!
